Hi all

I'm not even sure I can spell pneumonia correctly Blushing Anyway I had the vaccination on Monday after my Rheumy nurse recommended it due to me taking Sulfasalazine. The injection itself wasn't painful but now 2 days later I'm in lots of pain. Yesterday it was really painful and stiff which during the course of the day spread into my under-arm but today the top of the arm where I had it is very hot and looks/feels like a red ring of fire surrounding the jab spot. Has anyone else had the jab and had this reaction? I'm sure it is probably normal the nurse did say it would be a bit painful - I just wasn't expecting to feel like I was on fire!! Just thought I'd check if anyone else experienced the same and if so how much longer will it last?

Thanks

Deb

id take some anti histamine and get down to the GP

hi Deb,

hmmmm i would go and get this checked out to be sure there is no infection, but it sounds more like a reaction to me,

i had mine a year or two back and didn't have any reactions.

also agree with Jenni Anti Histamine might be a good idea till you get checked,

Hi Deb
That doesn't sound right. I had this jab soon after I was diagnosed and didn't react at all. Time to see your GP I think.

Hi

Thank you for your replies, I did see the GP they said although it wasn't a normal reaction it was normal for a minority of people to react as I did! So a few anti-histamines and a bag of frozen peas later it finally went down on Saturday yay! and I managed to get a full nights sleep without inadvertently lying on my arm and waking myself up BigGrin

I'm glad it's all OK now Deb. I know mine hurt as it went in (I swore quietly) and it took days to stop feeling sore. However I think my reaction was normal. It's well worth getting this done as we'd be very ill if we developed pneumonia. I'm not sure how long it lasts but I think it's at least 5 years so it's nice to know it's out of the way.
